Open the saved recording folder
Open the Jumpshare desktop app, click your profile icon in the top right corner, and select “Show Failed Uploads” from the dropdown. You will find the saved recording folder containing an initialization MP4 and a sequence of .m4s files. Read our visual guide for help locating this folder.

Upload the complete folder
Upload this recording folder that contains MP4 and every M4S segment together. Keep the filenames exactly as they were saved.

Which files do I need to recover the recording?
Select initialization MP4 and all .m4s segments from the same recording folder. You may also include the .m3u8 HLS playlist if it is available, but do not rename any files.

Why does the tool need initialization MP4?
The initialization file contains the video and audio track information needed to understand the M4S segments. The segments normally cannot become a playable MP4 without it.

What happens if a segment is missing or damaged?
A complete recovery requires the original initialization file and a continuous set of valid segments. The tool should flag missing or unreadable files before merging. A gap or damaged segment may prevent the full recording from being recovered.

Will merging reduce the video quality?
No quality should be lost when compatible segments are joined without re-encoding. The recovered MP4 keeps the resolution, frame rate, and audio stored in the original recording files.

Can I merge M4S files from different recordings?
No. Only combine files from the same recording session. Segments from different recordings may use different timing, video, or audio settings and cannot be reliably joined.

Are my recording files uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge runs locally in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm. Jumpshare does not receive the selected initialization MP4 file or M4S segments. Your browser only downloads the video-processing code required to run the tool.

Can I upload the recovered video to Jumpshare?
Yes. Download the recovered MP4, sign in to your Jumpshare account, and upload it like any other video file. The recovery tool does not publish the video to your account automatically.
