Custom Domain lets you share files using your URL, such as sub.yourdomain.com/xxxxxxx. It’s a great way to personalize sharing and promote your brand, resulting in a better user experience.
Setting up a Custom Domain
The first step is to buy a domain name from a domain registrar. You will then need to point the domain to our servers.
To set up a subdomain, for example, files.yourdomain.com, create a new CNAME record with the subdomain name “files” and point it to the value “proxy.jumpshare.com“.
Using a CDN Provider such as Cloudflare?
If you’re setting up your DNS Record on any CDN provider such as Cloudflare or any other, ensure the Proxy Status is set as “DNS Only”.
Once the Setup is Complete
Once you’ve correctly configured your domain to point toward our servers, login to your Jumpshare account, visit the Settings page, and switch to the Customize tab. Under the “Custom Domain” field, type your custom domain depending on what you’ve set up and click Update. If everything is set up properly, you will be able to share files using your custom domain.
To remove a custom domain, click the “Remove domain” button. Please note that if the custom domain is removed, your custom domain shareable links will stop working.
Enabling HTTPS on your custom domain
After you’ve successfully set up your custom domain using the method above and the DNS propagation has been completed, the HTTPS will automatically be applied to your custom domain.
It will take up to 2 minutes for the SSL/TLS certificate to apply to your custom domain. During this time, if you copy a link, it will copy as HTTP, however, once the certificate has been applied, then it will copy as HTTPS.
That’s it! Happy sharing!
