After more than a year of development and countless iterations, it’s finally here. This post marks the beginning of Jumpshare\u2019s launch to the public. Many of you know me as the founder of popular tech blog\u00a0AddictiveTips, who left the editorial position<\/a> in 2011. Some wondered why I chose to go into the file sharing space.\u00a0It is a\u00a0risky market, where one has to remain competitive and also pay huge hosting costs; think about huge operation costs; web servers, conversion servers, storage servers, bandwidth, and finally scaling it all.\u00a0Out of all the promising ideas, I chose the riskiest one\u00a0because I strongly believe that the services that exist today are not enough to\u00a0truly\u00a0make the pain of file sharing go\u00a0away.<\/p>\n

It’s 2012, and file sharing has not evolved past the point of having fancy UIs and an option to download the files.\u00a0In the world where everything is about consumption, file sharing has lagged behind. With Jumpshare, we plan on changing that. To start with, we support viewing of more than 150 different file formats, with more being added weekly. For now, you can only view the files on your desktop but soon we will\u00a0optimize them for\u00a0mobile phones and tablets, so that you can\u00a0access\u00a0them anytime, anywhere, while on the go.<\/p>\n

Jumpshare uses an internally developed engine to show you documents, presentations and spreadsheets. The engine, which we\u2019ve spent considerable time developing, is in early beta, and we will continue to gradually improve it until the output gets nods of approval from our users.<\/p>\n

At the moment, all files that you share will automatically expire after 2 weeks. Coming up next are user accounts,\u00a0where you can store your files and not worry about their expiration.<\/p>\n

Jumpshare today is only 1% of what I have envisioned it to be,\u00a0and I plan to see it through till the end. Needless to say, none of this would have been\u00a0possible\u00a0without the dedication of the team. We have a lot of work ahead of us and we believe that with your feedback, we can make it better with every passing day.<\/p>\n
